Face Structure

Most notably distinguished by their "kinked" ears. Dwelf kittens are born with straight ears, which begin to curl within eighty-two days. The head is a modified wedge with rounded lines, slightly longer than wide. As well as in the Sphynx, the cheekbones and whisker pads are very prominent. The whiskers are sparse and short. The chin is firm. The eyes are large, rounded, and wide spaced. The large ears are set upright, neither too low nor too high.

Specific Health Recommendations For Any Dwelf

Body: oils, which would normally be absorbed by the hair, tend to build up on the skin. As a result, regular bathing is usually necessary on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Care should be taken to limit the Dwelf cat's exposure to outdoor sunlight at length, as they can develop sunburn and skin damage similar to that of humans. In general, Dwelf cats should never be allowed outdoors unattended, as they have limited means to conserve body heat when it is cold. In some climates, owners provide coats or other clothing in the winter to help them conserve body heat.

Ears: These cat's ears require frequent cleaning to prevent infections, and need gentle handling to prevent damage.

The breed does have instances of the genetic disorder hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The Sphynx and Dwelf cat has a high rate of heart disease, either HCM or mitral valve dysplasia
